This table appears to be wearing a skirt. The design plays with the notion of 'dressing' a table and that, in traditional cabinet-making terms, the lip of a table is referred to as a skirt. Although the table top is made from spun aluminium, the fluid shape of it makes the table look softer as if a hooped piece of fabric has been laid on it.
